Chalkboard Mirror, diy

If you don't know, now you know; I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE DIY projects! There isn't anything more rewarding than creating something with your own two hands that looks like something you would pay good money for out of the store. This particular project was created by my friend, Fee!  You can check out her Insta-feed @feesetfree. We share not only a love for things like this, but also a deep love for the Lord. She is so creative and I love her beautiful decor, meals and everything she chooses to share.  When she first came up with this project, we were suppose to do it together.  I could never find a mirror that fit the measurements for my unique space. Fee created her beautiful chalkboard mirror and I continue to be on a hunt for the perfect one for me.  Little did I know, until recently, she was hunting too. LOL  I'm so blessed to call her my friend.

I'd looked online for various mirrors, as well as in several stores, to find the right mirror for my space. One day while in Walmart, I thought I'd look again for mirrors and see if they had anything different.  They didn't, but my outlook was different.  Instead of looking for a longer mirror, I saw smaller individual mirrors that might work.  I took two home and held them against my wall and I was so happy to see that not only were they the perfect width, but the fact that they were two separate mirrors really added something special to that area decor wise.  This was such a fun and easy project, I wanted to share it, because anyone can do it.  In this smaller size, you could give these as gifts as well.

You'll need glass cleaner, paper towels (to clean your mirror), newspaper (to protect your surface), chalk paint, paint brushes and some chalk to write and draw once your chalk mirror is completed.  Let's get into the steps:

Make sure to clean your mirror really well to remove dust and leftover glue from underneath places where stickers were.

Mix your chalk paint thoroughly!  It's very important.

Begin painting.  I went from corner to corner and taking my time with each stroke. Though I didn't use painter's tape, I'd recommend it, especially if you want to paint with more speed and have the frame of your mirror be protected.

Allow paint to dry completely in between coats.  It took about 3 coats on one mirror and 4 on the other.

Decorate and hang as you like.  Though I didn't have any on hand at the time of this project, I'd recommend colorful chalk for more creative drawings.

If you do this diy, I'd love to know and see photos of your creation.  Tag me on Instagram or twitter @glamourgurunae; I'd love to see your diy photos there.
Thanks for taking a moment to visit me here.  Have a blessed day!

Love,

Why I'm In love with Source Vital Apothecary

Picture
Normally, when I'm trying out a new skincare product, it takes me a good solid month to see whether my skin loves it or hates it.  There are times when I've begun using a product and the first week is true perfection and the next week is a horror story from the "Rash Monster".  Then there's the "On again, off again" reaction, where my skin is happy one day and the next I've broken out. Though, there are other cycles of reactions when trying new skincare item; I think you get the picture.

Before my time at Stylecon Dallas, I'd never heard of Source Vital Apothecary.  Hold on, while I take a moment of silence for the time my skin was without them...  When I stopped at their booth, there was a kind lady there who answered all of my questions. She informed me that most skincare products don't go into our pores as we believe them to do.  I began to think that with everything that's in a lot of them, I may not want them to go below my skin's surface, or on it at all...  Anyway, by the time she finished telling me everything, I was very excited.  There was even a "Facial Cocktail" that is blended specifically for individual skin needs. I was beyond excited to watch mine being made right in front of me. I informed her that if it worked, I was telling everyone on my Instagram.   I'd never experienced anything like this before.  The biggest and best part was knowing that all of the ingredients are natural.  I was definitely hoping the product worked for me.  When my cocktail was complete, she handed it to me (informed me to shake it extremely well before using the first few times)  along with more goodies from their brand.  Though I was prepared to pay, she refused and encouraged me to spread the word with others on my S.M. if I enjoyed their products.

I started using the "Facial Cocktail" the morning of Monday, Sept. 25.  What I noticed first was the natural glow it gave my skin (not shiny or greasy). My skin was soft and smooth.  As time went on, my skin began to even out, fine lines are less visible and deeper lines are becoming more fine. Also, one of my biggest challenges is hyperpigmentation.  I haven't used a product in a long time that has faded my dark spots the way this cocktail is working for me.  I must say, I've never had a natural product to do this....EVER!  Needless to say, I'm beyond amazed and thrilled with my experience thus far. When you try this product, remember a little goes a very long way.  To find these and other products from Source Vital Apothecary, please visit their site:

Let me show you all of the products that have completely blown me away!  I'll be sharing more about this on my Instagram.
